Yellow fog

For Olafur Eliasson, fog is a tool for making spatial connections and distances tangible. He chose the color yellow because it is particularly easy to perceive in the dark. Yellow fog thematizes the transition from day to night and subtly draws attention to the change in the rhythm of the day.

The work was first installed in 1998 on the occasion of the exhibition Light x Eight: The Hanukkah Project at the Jewish Museum in New York. Eliasson: "My idea of the potential of light, or of the ephemeral in general, is about how I can bring the communicative quality of a house closer to its function."
