Loan Nguyen is a contemporary photographer whose works are distinguished by a sensitive examination of human experiences and relationships. With an eye for intimate moments and subtle emotions, Nguyen captures images that reflect the frailty and beauty of the human condition. Her photographs are often imbued with a quiet poetry, exploring themes such as identity, belonging, and the nuances of everyday life. Nguyen’s work demonstrates a deep understanding of the power of visual storytelling to convey complex emotional worlds and personal stories.
The exhibition took place from 13 October 2010 to 30 May 2011.
Loan Nguyen appears in her own photographs herself; however, it is not the performative act that is the central statement of the image but rather that this is always bound to a selected place. When Loan Nguyen goes somewhere, her being remains in sensitive restraint, she does not want to fundamentally change the empty, often functionless place but approach it meditatively with gestures and poses.
The artist expresses it as follows: “My work is not fixed on the person. For me, objects, landscapes and people have the same status in the order of nature. I am interested in the stance and gestures of the objects and of nature, not only of the person.”
