Exhibition
The exhibition took place from 18 June to 31 August 2014.
The VERBUND COLLECTION, Vienna, made a guest appearance at the BOZAR, Brussels, from 18 June to 31 August 2014.
Art history shows that the image of the woman was defined from the perspective of the man. This centuries-old iconography was radically deconstructed in the 1970s for the first time in art history by the “Feminist Avant-Garde”.

The 29 female artists of the VERBUND COLLECTION, Vienna, created in the exhibition a new image of women that examines both their own body and themselves in their object-subject relationships and tackles the perspective of self-determined female identities.
The exhibition gives an insight into the complex works of female artists who deal provocatively, poetically and ironically with the construction of identities. The artists share the collective consciousness of a radical reappraisal, the rejection of the hegemony of painting and the turning towards completely new forms of expression in photography, performance, film and video.
